Research Activities

Study of proteins associated with conformational diseases, investigating the impact of metal ions and UV radiation on the aggregation processes. Some of the systems that I am working include:
The effect of Zn(II) on the amyloid aggregation of amylin, a peptide involved in the development of diabetes mellitus.
The effect of metal ions on the aggregation of the light chain antibody 6aR24G, involved in the light chain amyloidosis disease.
Effect of UV radiation on the aggregation of crystallins, involved in the development of cataracts

Expertise

protein aggregation; peptide synthesis; chromatography;electronic absorption spectroscopy
