pH-dependent reactivity and metal ion affinity of metal binding peptides by electrospray ionization - ion mobility - mass spectrometry (ESI-IM-MS) techniques
Our studies determine the pH-dependent reactivity and metal ion affinity of metal binding peptides. Measurement of the pH-dependent reactivity is by electrospray ionization - ion mobility - mass spectrometry (ESI-IM-MS) techniques developed by our group. The metal ion affinities will be determined from threshold collision-induced dissociation (TCID) analyses for determining the thermochemistry of the dissociation reactions of ternary complexes. TCID analyses requires realistic molecular parameters of the reactants and products and we develop new approaches combining molecular dynamic (MD) simulations, DFTB and PM6 for locating conformers with theoretical collision cross sections that agree with those measured by ESI-IM-MS.
