Our lab focuses on exploring the biological roles of guanine-quadruplexes (GQs). To that end, we develop synthetic metallopeptides that can exhibit superior binding properties towards GQ and characterize their biophysical properties. Moreover, we explore harnessing naturally occurring metalloligands of GQs such as hemin as a versatile platform for repurposing heme-binding peptides as agents for attenuating heme-binding GQs.
Additionally, we explore the modification of metal-binding peptides and proteins as functional elements for self-assembly to peptide- and protein-based materials.
